Dr. Brian Planchard grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana, the son of an Ophthalmologist. He graduated from Duke University Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Economics. After graduating college, he then attended Tulane Medical School in New Orleans, LA, the same medical school attended by his father and his two brothers. After graduating medical school, he spent a year doing a General Surgery Internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio before starting his Ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University in Shreveport. Upon finishing residency, he completed a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery at the Price Vision Group in Indianapolis, IN, one of the busiest and most innovative corneal transplant practices in the world.

After finishing training, Dr. Planchard returned to Shreveport, LA and began practice with his father for six years. He then practiced at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio as cornea faculty for two years before moving to Florida in 2018. He practiced in the Florida Panhandle for four years at the Emerald Coast Eye Institute in Fort Walton Beach.

Dr. Planchard’s fellowship training is in Cornea and Refractive surgery, but he is comfortable and experienced in all of anterior segment (front of the eye) Ophthalmology, including cataract surgery, management of glaucoma, and routine conditions including dry eyes. He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

In his free time, Dr. Planchard enjoys spending time with his dog Max, reading history, playing piano, and traveling.
